2024 FGA Annual General Meeting, Tuesday 16th April 2024

Poster for 2024 FGA AGM

Please join us for the FGA AGM on Tuesday 16th April 2024 7.30pm in the Village Hall meeting room.

The evening will begin with a few short presentations:

  • Review of last year’s activities
  • Annual accounts
  • Plans for this year
  • Election for the committee

Following the formalities we are delighted to say that the speaker will be David Short, who will tell us about his “life behind bars” – nothing to do with imprisonment but about life at the Queen’s Head pub in Newton, where his son is now the third generation in charge. Anyone who has heard David will know what an excellent speaker he is, not to be missed. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be served so do come along and enjoy.

Commemorative Bench for The Dovecot Meadow – update!

On Monday 4th March, we took delivery of a bench commemorating the Coronation of King Charles III in 2023. Peter Evans kindly secured it to the ground in a corner of the Dovecot
Meadow, beside the trodden path. Dominic Mahony and a strong villager passing by kindly lent a hand with the lifting, as it was very heavy!

We are very lucky to have this special village space and we hope people will enjoy pausing there to relax, absorb the view, spot the variety of wild flowers and listen to the beautiful singing of our local birds.

Many thanks to Linda Smith for spearheading this project and providing the photos.

Commemorative Bench for The Dovecot Meadow

Foxton Gardens Association has commissioned a bench to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III. Foxton Parish Council has approved the initiative and the bench will be placed in The Dovecot Meadow at the end of February, weather and fixing conditions permitting.

It will be sited by the trodden path, not far from the gate, so as to give easy access and a good view of the Meadow and the Dovecot itself.

We are very lucky to have this special village space and we hope people will enjoy pausing there to relax, absorb the view, spot the variety of wildflowers and to listen to the beautiful singing of our local birds.

The bench, similar to the one pictured above, is being made by TDP. Come back soon to see photos of the bench in its new home!

Thanks to Linda Smith for spearheading this project for the village!
